Nolan House
The Nolan House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in April 2015!
The Madison-Morgan Conservancy is working toward safeguarding Nolan Crossroads: a rural Morgan County relic that still reflects an important period of Southern history.
Nolan Crossroads was the site of one of the largest tenant farming operations in the area–at one point over 2000 acres in size. The Crossroads developed in the beginning of the 20th century, and would come to include the circa 1905 neoclassical Nolan House, the adjacent Nolan Store which was a commissary for farm workers, various farm buildings, and numerous tenant houses.
The Conservancy has been hands-on in securing the Nolan House property from vandalism and decay, while working with landowners towards the future protection of the entire Crossroads.
Additionally, the Conservancy has used Nolan Crossroads as an educational opportunity, and regularly arranges for students of Historic Preservation to visit and learn from this important local landmark.
