King Cotton in Georgia’s Piedmont: The Rise, Fall, and Revival?
Part of the Symposium Series

In partnership with the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, the Conservancy invites you to join us at the Cultural Center’s historic auditorium on Sunday, November 5, 2017, for the fourth in a series of symposiums.

The cotton industry dictated the present-day Morgan County we know – from the agrarian landscapes to the commercial downtown business, to the historic homes, to the culture and pace of life.  This symposium will present the history and importance of the cotton industry in Morgan County and in a wider Southern context.

Past symposiums include:

  • Yankees Marching By: A 150th Anniversary Symposium on the Civil War in Madison & Morgan County (2014)
  • World War II: The Homefront (2015)
  • Sustainability Symposium (2016)
